Grand River Academy's Summer Academic Camp and STEAM Academy both began on July 2nd. In the past few weeks, these boys have spent time learning new things, making new friends, and getting outside as often as possible!
The STEAM Academy participants, who range from sixth - tenth grade, spend their days learning specific topics during the week. The first week was spent learning about coding and the second week they created their own robots and coded them to perform tasks. Throughout the whole program they are spending afternoon activities building a wooden boat and visiting area science centers - from Pittsburgh, Columbus, to Cleveland.
Summer Academic Camp participants are spending a lot of time learning outdoors. Faculy members such as Mrs. Studer (Biology) and Ms. Jen Hiles (English) are just a few of the instructors who make sure to teach lessons in engaging ways, utilizing student interests and the region's natural resources to make it memorable. This is on top of memorable student activities outside of classroom time, such as slip n' slide kickball and off-campus excursions.
As we are halfway through the summer on campus, watch just a few of the moments captured on video.
