Partnering with the Ashtabula Foundation to create a Youth Philanthropy Club, Grand River Academy students are inviting grant applications from local non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations by Thursday, November 30, 2017.
The Ashtabula Foundation sponsors Youth Philanthropy Clubs in each high school in Ashtabula County with $5,000 in grant money, to distribute at each Club's discretion, for service projects by local organizations that directly benefit the residents of Ashtabula County.
This is Grand River Academy's second year participating in the program, having distributed grants to Ashtabula County YMCA, Community Counseling Center, Good Karma Kitchen of Our Lady of Peace, Homesafe and Samaritan House during the 2016-2017 school year.
GRA Club Advisors Kristen Kitchen and David Thomas '11 shared, "There was an overwhelming response to participate in the Club again this school year! When we asked why they so eagerly volunteered, our students shared they wanted to "give back to the community" and "be a leader."
Local non-profit organizations are permitted to apply to no more than two Youth Philanthropy groups in Ashtabula County, and each application should be for different projects. If you are interested in applying to the Grand River Academy Youth Philanthropy Club, please contact Club Advisor Kristen Kitchen at 440-275-2811 or kristen.kitchen@grandriver.
