Congratulations to the 2017 Bud Field Hall of Excellence Outstanding Teacher honoree - Mr. Charles Soprano!

Now retired, Mr. Soprano has 39 years of experience teaching high school English in both the United States and overseas. He graduated from Padua High School in Parma, Ohio, and earned his BA in English, Magna Cum Laude, from Case Western Reserve University. After teaching for seven years in Arcade in upstate New York, he joined the staff of Grand River Academy in 1978. He taught grade 12 English and British Literature for nine years, as well as served as dorm master in Shepard Hall. He traveled to Europe most summers from 1974 on, before moving overseas for the first time to teach at Leysin American School from 1987 to 1989.

After earning his MA in English at Cleveland State University in 1990, he returned to international teaching and lived in such places as Madrid, Lisbon, London, Munich, Vienna, Istanbul, and finally Ban Chang, Thailand. Charles retired in 2012 and is currently living in Cleveland, where he roots for the Indians and Cavs, but is totally indifferent to the Browns!
