The Eagles Continue to Soar!

It’s been a busy week for the GRA Eagles. Soccer remains undefeated in the LEC at 3-0-1, although they received their first loss last night, they look to score another win tomorrow night. Golf continues to improve their scoring and hope to win their first match tonight.

Game Recaps

On Tuesday, September 22nd, the soccer team traveled to Conneaut High School on Tuesday for a non-league match. Both teams started quick, and the score was knotted 1-1 three minutes into the match. Then, both settled in defensively and the score line held for over 60 minutes until another flurry of goals brought the score to 2-2 with 12 minutes remaining. Conneaut then took advantage of a free kick and scored with just over four minutes left on the clock, and added another with a minute left to make the final score 4-2. Shuya '16 scored both goals for GRA, and Pedro '16, Liam '16, and Joe '16 all out in fine efforts as well. The loss drops the Eagles to 3-1-1, but they still remain unbeaten in the LEC at 3-0-1.

On Monday, September 21st, the GRA Eagles hosted Horizon Science Academy in a conference matchup, winning 4-0 in a tough match. Shuya '16 got the scoring started in the 13th minute from a quick run with the ball. About ten minutes later, he found the back of the net off an assist from Rodrigo '16 to take GRA to a 2-0 score into the half. Four minutes into the second half, Pedro '16 found the ball off a bit of creativity from Rodrigo '16 and got his goal for the match. At the 60th minute, Shuya '16 completed his hat trick off an assist from Carter '19. Dylan '16 and Noah '18 kept the clean sheet with two saves and one save respectively.

On Friday, the Grand River golf lost their match against Conneaut High School 178-199. Over the past week the team has impressively cut 28 strokes from their score. On Friday Brian '16 and Austin '17 led the team with 47 and 48 respectively. The Eagles have a busy week next week looking to continue their improvement and find the win column.
