Tennis Improves Winning Record This Week

Grand River Academy hosted the Geneva Eagles for the fifth tennis match of the season. The GRA Eagles were victorious, increasing their record to 4-1.
Rodrigo '16 played at the number one spot to come away with the win. Billy ‘16 playing at number three singles, came to a tiebreaker in his first set, won, and then beat his opponent in the second set. The first doubles Rob '17 and Jacob '17 easily won their match as did Tim '16 and Youfan '16 at second doubles. Overall, it was a great match for the whole team and Coach Polak is so thankful for the team’s hard work and competitive play.

On Tuesday, April 26th, the Eagles traveled to Sagamore Hills to face conference rival Lawrence School. It was another epic pitching duel. The Eagles got out to an early lead when Dorje ’17 singled to lead off the game. He eventually scored on Austin ‘17’s sacrifice. The offense stalled though, only getting one more hit the rest of the game, a single by Johnn ‘16. Anthony ’18 was credited with the second RBI. On the mound, Brian ‘16 had his 3rd solid start in a row but unfortunately the Eagles were unable to claim victory, losing the game 3-2.

The lacrosse team began its season this past week with two home games against Riverside and Notre Dame Cathedral Latin. The team was eager to begin playing after a long practice period and came out fighting in both games despite having low numbers of substitutes. Although the Eagles were unable to come away with a win in either game, they played well and continued to improve. Dylan ‘16 finished the week with 8 goals and 2 assists, while Captain Pedro ‘16 had 3 goals and 3 assists.
