Grand River Academy will be introducing Chromebooks into the classroom beginning at the start of the 2016-17 academic year. All students will purchase a Chromebook from the Academy as their educational device. They are fully compatible with GRA’s online learning management system, Google Classroom, and will be incorporated into daily lessons as well as assignments to be completed out of the classroom.
GRA's goal is to incorporate technology into each classroom so that students learn how to appropriately use it as an educational resource within a structured environment. Grand River Academy believes that learning how to properly use these tools now will assist students in preparation for college and beyond.
Each Chromebook is configured specifically to GRA’s educational needs and each student will be assigned his own, which he will use for his entire time at Grand River Academy. This initiative will help streamline the use of technology in the classroom and ensure all students and teachers have access to the appropriate programs. This also eliminates the need for students to have their personal electronic devices (laptops, tablets, and smart phones) out during class.
Below you will find some frequently asked questions regarding the introduction of Chromebooks:
Is the Chromebook my child's to keep?
Yes. If he is an underclassman, he will need this Chromebook for the following year, too.
Can we buy a Chromebook on our own?

The cost of the Chromebook is $375, which will come out of the student expense account during the first billing cycle. Additionally, each Chromebook will come with a protective case.
What if the Chromebook breaks?
Each Chromebook has a replacement policy in the event of damage.
Does my child need any other laptop or device?
No. The Chromebook will serve all his needs, and he does not need to bring another laptop, iPad, etc.
