Filled with memories and reverence, Grand River Academy hosted its 2016 Fall Family and Friends Day and Bud Field Hall of Excellence Induction Ceremony on Saturday, October 1st. This special weekend is one of only a handful each year where the entire GRA community is together to celebrate the success of our students, and the recognition of pivotal individuals in our history. On this particular day, we also celebrated the 185 years we have been helping students achieve success!
Since GRA’s founding in 1831, countless individuals have made a significant impact, whether as a student, a faculty member or as a friend of the school. The 2016 Bud Field Hall of Excellence inductees each made their mark on GRA. Congratulations to the following GRA family members:
Mr. Dana Zezzo '86
Mr. Stephen Simon '05
Mr. Marc Simon '05, In Memorium
Mr. Richard Rose
Mr. Brian Ballentine
Their remarks during the induction ceremony certainly contributed to the importance of the day. Award Presenter Mr. Bill Jordan '05 shared memories of both Stephen and Marc giving him the confidence and the drive to better himself. Outstanding Alumnus honoree Mr. Dana Zezzo '86 recalled the change in perspective and motivation he had undergone as a student at GRA. Distinguished Service recipient Mr. Richard Rose spoke to the importance of our campus itself as a driver for student success and the need for constant facility updates, while Outstanding Teacher Mr. Brian Ballentine noted the many positive changes he has been privileged to witness in his students’ lives throughout 16 years as a faculty member.
It is moments like Fall Family & Friends Day where the best of Grand River Academy, our history, our committed community, and our students are highlighted, that we are so thoughtfully reminded of the importance, and the exceptional duty, we have to continue the legacy of 185 years for the next generation.
