2015 Fall Family and Friends Day - A Day of Connecting and Celebrating!

2015 Fall Family and Friends Day - A Day of Connecting and Celebrating!

This past Saturday may have been wet and windy, but the Grand River Academy campus still shined - courtesy of the many smiles and laughs shared during the 2015 Fall Family and Friends Day! Students, parents, alumni, and friends of the Academy joined together to celebrate autumn in Austinburg while discovering the new updates to campus and connecting with one another along the way.

The morning was filled with conferences for current parents, while alumni and guests joined the group for the community luncheon buffet held in Armington Hall. There, everyone was able to enjoy a barbecue-style buffet while meeting and greeting. Current parents were able to meet with alum and learn about their GRA memories, friends of the school were able to talk with current students and faculty, while students were able to introduce their families to their new friends.

Following lunch, everyone traveled to the Robert S. Morrison Lecture Center for the Bud Field Hall of Excellence Induction Ceremony. There, GRA celebrated the legacy of Mr. Bud Field with the induction of the 2015 recipients, including awards for Distinguished Alumnus Brad Levy ‘73, Outstanding Athlete Danny Piccirillo ‘94, Outstanding Teacher Jed Trombley, and Distinguished Service Molly Smith.

Many alumni and former faculty from across the decades, spanning from the 1960s to just last year, joined and were able to see the changes to the Academy. This included the newly unveiled Productive Growth Center which hosted the Headmaster’s Wine and Cheese Reception, as well as the revitalized weight and fitness rooms and the renovated Knowledge Commons at Gate Library. Simultaneously, the GRA soccer team was clinching a victory during the cold and rainy conditions to retain their unbeaten conference record.

The day concluded with the Harvest Dinner, giving all guests a chance to connect once again and conclude their visit to GRA with a fall-inspired meal - caramel apples included! A memorable day for all who attended, GRA is already looking forward to welcoming the entire Grand River family to Spring Family & Friends Day on May 7, 2016!
